French Small Carriage Clock with Case, c.1900
A stunning and high-quality small carriage clock with enamel faces and bevelled glass panels. The clock is in excellent condition; however, the case has some scuffs and tears (still a solid piece).
On the top of the clock case is the inscription: "M.LH from D.C.R, P.C.R, C.M.R, G.N.R" (military-related, according to the owner's note).
It is in working order but may need polishing and is running late by approximately 1 minute per 24 hours.
Marked: Enamel Face Made in France and Mechanism Made in France
During my research, I spotted a similar mechanism used in very well-known brands such as Archibald Knox for Liberty & Co. c.1906, and Asprey London c.1909.
Case: 10cm x 8cm x 7cm or 3.937 inches x 3.150 inches x 2.756 inches
Clock: 8.7cm x 5.3cm x 5.5cm or 3.43 inches x 2.09 inches x 2.17 inches
