British Royal Navy Champagne Glasses HMS Neptune ex-Independencia c1870I would describe these as an extremely r, likely survivors from an officer's mess.
All glasses feature a crest with a King’s Crown, crossed anchors, and a ribbon bearing the name "Independencia."
Condition: The glasses are in very good condition, except for a small chip on the foot of one glass. Additionally, one glass has an unfinished cut pattern (see picture 5). Picture 6 shows an inverted view from inside one of the glasses. The glasses are marked on the bottom with the letter "N1." Each glass measures approximately 11 cm x 9 cm (4.3 inches x 3.5 inches).
Historical Note: HMS Neptune (1874) was an ironclad warship launched in 1874 as Independencia, intended for the Brazilian Navy. Acquired by the Royal Navy in 1878, she was sold in 1903.
